.PAY is a top-level domain designed for businesses that facilitate, process, or support payment transactions. A .PAY domain name signals to customers that the services behind it operate in the payments ecosystem, reinforcing the trust and security that customers expect when transacting online.

.PAY is currently in its Sunrise Period and will enter a Limited Registration Period (LRP) on July 20, 2026. The LRP is a defined registration window with specific eligibility requirements for both registrants and the registrars or resellers that support them.

Who Can Register a .PAY Domain Name During LRP

During the Limited Registration Period, eligibility to register a .PAY domain name is restricted to registrants that conduct payment transactions online using an approved Payment Service Provider or Third-Party Payment Processor.

Registrants must use their .PAY domain name in connection with payment-related services, including but not limited to processing payments, facilitating e-commerce transactions, or providing payment gateway services.

A .PAY domain name registered during the LRP may be transferred to a new registrant only if the new registrant fulfills the eligibility criteria under which the initial registrant registered the domain name. For full terms and conditions, see the .PAY LRP Registration Policy.

Approved Payment Service Providers and Third-Party Payment Processors

LRP Registrar and Reseller Qualifications

.PAY domain name registrations during the Limited Registration Period must be carried out by either a Qualified Registrar or a Qualified Reseller. This requirement ensures that the entities supporting .PAY registrations during this period meet a heightened standard of trust and security; specifically, that they operate under the oversight of an established financial services regulator.

For customers, this means the registrar or reseller handling your .PAY LRP domain name registrations is held to the same regulatory accountability that governs payment services broadly.

Qualification Criteria

A registrar or reseller will be determined by Amazon to be a Qualified Registrar or Qualified Reseller if such registrar or reseller can satisfactorily evidence it is subject to the jurisdiction of an approved financial services regulator and remains in full compliance with all obligations, restrictions, and required practices of such regulator.

Each registrar or reseller interested in supporting .PAY domain name registrations as a Qualified Registrar or Qualified Reseller must:

1. Provide Amazon with documentation identifying the financial services regulator whose jurisdiction it is subject to; and
2. Remain in full compliance with all obligations of such regulator during the term of any supported .PAY domain name registrations, and provide proof of such compliance upon Amazon's request.

A Qualified Reseller may register, renew, or receive transfers of .PAY domain names through a registrar partner that is not itself a Qualified Registrar, but such registrar is not permitted to register, renew, or receive transfers of .PAY domain names through its own services absent the Qualified Reseller. Similarly, a reseller that is not a Qualified Reseller itself may support registrations if its partner registrar is a Qualified Registrar.
